Oshkosh Goes Green
Oshkosh Goes Green is a group intended to start global warming awareness in the Winnebago area and provide simple effective ways to reduce CO2 emissions.

"The era of procrastination, of half-measures, of soothing and baffling expedients, of delays, is coming to a close. In its place, we are entering a period of consequence." -Winston Churchill

"And that is what is at stake, our ability to live on planet Earth, to have a future as a civilization. I believe this is a moral issue, it is your time to seize this issue, it is our time to rise again to secure our future." - Al Gore

"What gets us into trouble is not what we don't know. It's what we know for sure that just ain't so." - Mark Twain

"What we take for granted might not be here for our children." -Al Gore

"If we did not take action to solve this crisis, it could indeed threaten the future of human civilization. That sounds shrill. It sounds hard to accept. I believe it's deadly accurate. But again, we can solve it." - Al Gore

"All across the world, in every kind of environment and region known to man, increasingly dangerous weather patterns and devastating storms are abruptly putting an end to the long-running debate over whether or not climate change is real. Not only is it real, it's here, and its effects are giving rise to a frighteningly new global phenomenon: the man-made natural disaster." -Barack Obama

"The good news is we know what to do. The good news is, we have everything we need now to respond to the challenge of global warming. We have all the technologies we need, more are being developed, and as they become available and become more affordable when produced in scale, they will make it easier to respond. But we should not wait, we cannot wait, we must not wait." -Al Gore

"There are many who still do not believe that global warming is a problem at all. And it's no wonder: because they are the targets of a massive and well-organized campaign of disinformation lavishly funded by polluters who are determined to prevent any action to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions that cause global warming out of a fear that their profits might be affected if they had to stop dumping so much pollution into the atmosphere." -Al Gore

"The world’s forests need to be seen for what they are.. giant global utilities, providing essential services to humanity on a vast scale. Rainforests store carbon, which is lost to the atmosphere when they burn, increasing global warming. The life they support cleans the atmosphere of pollutants and feeds it with moisture. They help regulate our climate and sustain the lives of some of the poorest people on this Earth." - Prince Charles

"Global warming is one of those things, not like an earthquake where there's a big bang and you say, 'Oh, my God, this is really, has hit us.' It creeps up on you. Half a degree temperature difference from one year to the next, a little bit of rise of the ocean, a little bit of melting of the glaciers, and then all of a sudden it is too late to do something about it." - Arnold Schwarzenegger

"We simply must do everything we can in our power to slow down global warming before it is too late. The science is clear. The global warming debate is over." - Arnold Schwarzenegger

I started this group in hopes that we can make a difference in our community reguarding global warming. Hardly ever do I see people taking the initiative to reduce CO2 emissions and protect the environment in and surrounding Oshkosh. I'm here to start a change. I'm not talking about full swing "save the world" kind of change, but small, simple changes like replacing incandecent light bulbs with compact florescent bulbs, carpooling, recycling, and electricity management. I am afraid that the world we live in today will be drastically altered (and not for the better) in future generations. I want to preserve and protect Wisconsin's natural beauty. But I can only do that with your help, so please join the OGG and don't be afraid to express any ideas or feelings you have on the subject of global warming. Let's make a change!
